The Role
We’re seeking a talented and ambitious Art Director to lead the creative evolution of the Goalhanger brand across our flagship shows and beyond. This is a rare opportunity to shape the visual identity of a growing network of hit podcasts that are driving national conversations.
You’ll be responsible for delivering high-impact creative across all touchpoints — from show branding to animation, marketing assets, and social content — ensuring consistency, originality, and cultural relevance at every turn.
Key Responsibilities
- Bring Goalhanger’s new brand aesthetic to life across multiple hit shows including The Rest Is History, The Rest Is Politics, and The Rest Is Football
- Lead the creative development of visual assets across platforms — from YouTube to TikTok, Instagram to broadcast
- Oversee motion design, animation, thumbnails, trailers, and marketing assets for digital and out-of-home campaigns
- Manage and commission a network of freelance designers, illustrators, and animators
- Balance hands-on design work with high-level creative direction
- Collaborate closely with producers, editors, marketers, and social teams to ensure brand cohesion and storytelling impact
- Stay ahead of trends in entertainment, design, audio, and social to keep our output sharp and fresh
- Leverage AI tools and design software (e.g. Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, Runway, Midjourney etc.) to speed up and elevate the creative process
About You
- Proven experience as an Art Director or Senior Designer in a fast-paced creative or media environment
- A strong portfolio that shows a passion for storytelling, culture, and contemporary design
- Highly proficient in design and motion tools, plus a working knowledge of AI-based creative tools
- Comfortable managing freelancers and juggling multiple projects
- Deep understanding of how audiences engage with content across platforms — especially YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, and Spotify
- A natural visual storyteller with taste, originality, and cultural awareness
- Experience in entertainment, audio, or social-first content is a major plus
