Senior Marketing Executive â Outdoor Activities JD Outdoors Location: JD Group HQ (Bury, Greater Manchester) Department: Marketing Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Role Overview The Senior Marketing Executive for Outdoor Activities at JD Outdoor plays a pivotal role in driving brand growth, customer engagement, and sales within the outdoor activities category. Reporting into the Marketing Manager you will develop and execute marketing plans for all areas of the âactivitiesâ category including cycling, riding, climbing, fishing and water sports, plus any new areas in the future. This position is responsible for creating and delivering innovative marketing campaigns that inspire adventure, strengthen brand positioning, and connect with outdoor enthusiasts across multiple channels. You will be responsible for planning and creating engaging, relevant and commercially minded content for activities to be used across JD Outdoors communication channels across physical retail and offline and digital marketing. You will be assisting in the development and delivery of a brand funded partnership strategy for activities.
Responsibilities
- Being the key marketing point of contact for the activities commercial team, working closely to understand their proposition, priorities, and objectives.
- Delivering a omni-channel marketing calendar for each activity which focuses in on business/product priorities, key/new brands, customer moments and key calendar dates for that activity. Planning in activity with ambassadors to amplify the message.
- Support planning and execution of outdoor activation events, product launches, and experiential marketing initiatives.
- Build partnerships and relationships with outdoor brands, sponsors and communities to co-create campaigns and increase brand visibility.
- Working with the in-house production team to produce content to support the marketing plans for activities.
- Develop compelling content that highlights outdoor experiences, products, and customer journeys, ensuring alignment with JD Outdoorâs brand voice across fascia channels: This would include headlines and body copy for creative executions, such as brand pages, emails, mailers, PR opportunities and in-store POS.
- Communicating campaigns to all relevant channel owners and agencies ensuring that they have what they need to execute on their channels.
- Management of any activities focussed events.
- Monitoring activities marketing performance and reporting insights, continuously looking for ways to improve the plans and increase sales and awareness of the category. Monitor KPIs, prepare reports, and provide actionable insights to maximise ROI.
- Conduct market and customer analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and pain points, feeding into campaign strategies.
- Working to the critical path for all activity within remit.
- Key Relationships: Marketing team members, Merchandisers and Buyers, Online team, External Partners, Advertising/PR/Media Agencies, External Brands/Agencies, Retail ops / store teams.

- Proven marketing experience gained in a retail environment, ideally within outdoor, sports, or lifestyle industries.
- Strong campaign management and project coordination skills.
- Creative mindset with ability to generate engaging marketing ideas.
- Strong organisational skills to manage multiple projects and timescales.
- Attention to detail.
- Customer focused and commercially aware.
- Leadership qualities and ability to lead on projects, meetings and people.
- Good communicator and ability to build relationships, especially with internal activities teams and external partners.
