Salary: £12.41 per hour pre‑test, £12.41‑£14.86 per hour passed test, £15.51‑£17.58 per hour after 1 year & licence holder.

Go North West was created on 2 June 2019 when The Go‑Ahead Group took over operations at the historic Queens Road bus depot in Manchester. Since then we have worked hard to embed ourselves within the communities we serve. We run an extensive network of routes across Greater Manchester and Salford, including the 135, one of Manchester’s busiest bus routes. If you are invited to an assessment centre it will be held at the Queens Road depot where training is also based.

Responsibilities

  • Navigate your bus through Greater Manchester streets, ensuring smooth and safe transport for all passengers.
  • Act as the friendly face of the business, delivering first‑class customer service with a can‑do attitude.
  • Serve as a community ambassador, fostering positive connections and making a difference in passengers’ lives.
  • Execute precise manoeuvres and pilot challenging routes with experienced skill.
  • Collaborate with fellow elite drivers and support staff, working as a tight‑knit unit to exceed performance targets.
  • Uphold the highest standards of professionalism, discipline, and camaraderie, reflecting the spirit of an elite driver.

Requirements

  • Full UK driving licence with no more than 3 points and the right to work in the UK.
  • Prior experience as a bus driver is welcomed; enthusiastic newcomers will also be considered.
  • Positive, outgoing attitude with excellent communication skills to engage passengers from all walks of life.
  • Ability to deliver exceptional customer service and create a welcoming on‑board environment.
  • Willingness to undergo training and acquire a PCV licence through the Elite Driver Academy.
  • Commitment to safety, punctuality and teamwork, ensuring smooth operation of bus services.
