Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled 1st Fix Carpenter to join our modular construction team. This role focuses on the structural phase of factory-based builds, installing core timber elements before final finishes. The successful candidate will work within a controlled factory environment, contributing to high-quality, efficient off-site construction processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Interpret and work from technical drawings, specifications, and cutting lists
- Install structural timber components including:
- Floor joists and decking systems
- Wall framing and stud partitions
- Roof trusses and structural supports
- Fit door linings, window frames, and stair carcasses
- Install sheathing, plywood, and structural boards
- Ensure all work meets required tolerances and quality standards
- Use hand and power tools safely and efficiently
- Collaborate with other trades (e.g., electricians, plumbers) during early-stage installations
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work area in line with health & safety regulations
- Identify and report defects or inconsistencies in materials or drawings
Requirements
- Proven experience as a 1st Fix Carpenter (ideally in modular/off-site construction)
- Strong understanding of timber frame construction methods
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings accurately
- Competence with a wide range of carpentry tools and machinery
