About the Role
The Counterparty Due Diligence (CDD) Manager will own and manage the end-to-end CDD programme. Ensuring robust onboarding, periodic and ongoing review, and enhanced due diligence processes that meet regulatory expectations and protect the firm from financial crime and sanctions risk. Experience leading CDD change programmes to leverage new technology would be beneficial.
Tasks & Responsibilities
- To lead counterparty onboarding CDD, including Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) for high-risk clients such as PEPs, complex ownership structures, and those in high-risk jurisdictions.
- Manage periodic and trigger-based CDD refresh cycles across the counterparty database, subject to risk based intervals.
- Manage beneficial ownership verification and corporate structure analysis.
- Escalate and investigate red flags; liaise with the Head of Compliance and MLRO where required.
- Maintain and improve CDD policies, procedures and risk assessment methodology.
- Manage a team of three CDD Analysts, providing supervision, quality assurance, training and workflow allocation.
- Act as SME on sanctions screening, PEP screening and adverse media processes. Keep abreast of regulatory developments and update policies and procedures accordingly.
- Liaise with CZ front office and operations teams to ensure smooth onboarding without compromising controls.
- To work with all relevant departments and CZ offices to ensure clear communication of the spirit and letter of CDD related policies and procedures.
- Track KYC metrics such as backlog, SLA adherence, team performance to the Head of Compliance.
- To take responsibility for your performance and to work together to achieve our organizational goals.
- To attend training courses which are identified as being necessary for the performance of the role.
- To be fully conversant with the Employee Handbook and supporting policies, including Health & Safety legislation and fire and emergency procedures.
- To comply with any reasonable instruction issued by your manager.
About You
We are looking for someone with the following skillset and attributes:
Essential:
- Understanding and/or commercial experience of UK and US regulatory environments.
- Experience in Physical Commodity Trading/ Supply Chain organisations.
- Experience using technology, automation, AI or data-led solutions to improve CDD processes and controls.
- Ability to interpret rules and regulations and translate them into policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of legislation underpinning Sanctions, Compliance and Financial Crime.
- Ability to supervise and coach junior members of staff.
- Business level fluency in English (both written and verbal)
- Advanced communication skills
- Strong I.T. skills including proficiency in Excel and Word
- Excellent organisation and time management skills
- Keen attention to detail and the ability to multi-task
- Self-starter with the ability to use initiative for problem solving
- Resourceful, innovative and proactive
- Personable with the ability to build relationships and communicate with all levels both internally and externally
