The Opportunity
We’re working with a well-established and growing contractor who is looking to bring in a Trainee Estimator / Estimating Assistant as part of their long-term growth plans. This is an excellent opportunity for either:
- a graduate / HND / HNC-qualified candidate looking to start a career in construction/commercial roles
- a bright, proactive individual currently on the tools who is looking to step into an office-based position
You’ll be trained from the ground up, working closely with an experienced estimating team and learning how projects are priced, scoped, and won.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Assisting with the preparation of estimates and tenders
- Reviewing drawings, specifications, and project requirements
- Supporting with take-offs and cost breakdowns
- Liaising with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain quotes
- Helping build accurate project pricing and proposals
- Working closely with senior estimators and commercial staff
Requirements:
- HND, HNC, or degree in construction, engineering, or a related field or hands-on site experience
- Strong numeracy and attention to detail
- Good communication skills and a willingness to learn - you need to be able to build relationships with clients and suppliers
- Ambition to build a long-term career in estimating/commercial roles
- A practical mindset with an interest in how projects are delivered
- Attending site visits with clients
