Go-Ahead London is seeking Temporary Driving Instructors to join our Recruitment and Training Academy based at Camberwell. These are 12-month fixed-term contracts, with the potential for extension based on business needs.
Reporting to the Academy Manager, successful applicants will play a key role in training and developing the next generation of Go-Ahead London bus drivers.
Essential CriteriaTo be considered for this role, applicants must:
- Have held a valid PCV licence for at least three years
- Have no current penalty points or endorsements on their driving licence
- Demonstrate excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to produce clear and concise reports
- Possess a thorough knowledge of the Highway Code, PCV regulations, and company procedures
- Able to attend work regularly, with no active disciplinary entries relating to company rules, regulations, or driving standards
Desirable
- Have previous experience in a learning, training or development environment, particularly supporting apprentices or new drivers
Deliver high-quality practical training to new recruits to ensure they reach the required standard for the PCV driving test.
- Assess and coach new drivers, including existing PCV holders, to enhance their driving skills and standards
- Conduct driving observations and provide detailed feedback in line with company protocols
- Provide familiarisation training on a range of vehicle types operated by Go-Ahead London
- Deliver classroom-based training covering topics such as ticketing systems, rotas and schedules, radio use, and vehicle checks
Additional Information
Training vehicles are based across multiple Go-Ahead London sites, and applicants must be willing and able to travel as required. Applicants will be required to complete written and practical assessments as part of the selection process. All Driving Instructor roles are subject to a DBS (criminal record) check. Successful candidates will work 39 hours per week, Monday to Friday, and receive a salary of £45,043 per annum. Appointments are subject to the successful completion of a four- to five-week initial training programme. All other terms and conditions remain unchanged.
