  • River Road (Barking) – 35 hours per week – 18:30-02:30
  • Bexleyheath – 35 hours per week – 18:00-02:00
  • Northumberland Park – 35 hours per week – 19:30-03:30
  • Stockwell – 35 hours per week – 19:00-03:00

About The Role

We’re looking for reliable and safety‑minded Shunters / PCV Shunters to join our Asset Presentation team. You’ll be responsible for the safe movement and preparation of buses within the garage, supporting cleaning teams, engineering teams, and operational staff to ensure every vehicle is ready for service. This is a physically active role and will involve working shifts, including evenings and weekends.

What You’ll Do

  • Safely manoeuvre buses within the garage, following parking plans or allocator instructions
  • Position vehicles for maintenance, cleaning, and service readiness
  • Refuel buses and check essential fluids in line with company guidelines
  • Ensure exterior cleaning is completed to Go‑Ahead Way (GAW) standards
  • Liaise with cleaning teams and position vehicles for internal cleaning
  • Carry out visual checks for damage or defects and report issues promptly
  • Complete movement logs and maintain accurate records of vehicle positioning and fuelling
  • Move buses to and from workshops with minimal disruption to operations
  • Follow all Health & Safety, environmental, and operational procedures

What We’re Looking For

  • Full UK driving licence (Category B essential; PCV licence preferred — training may be provided)
  • Ability to manoeuvre large vehicles safely in confined spaces
  • Good level of physical fitness
  • Strong understanding of Health & Safety practices
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team
  • Flexible approach to shifts, including evenings and weekends
  • Good communication skills and ability to work with yard supervisors, engineers, and cleaners
  • Previous experience in transport or logistics (desirable)
  • Knowledge of basic vehicle checks and fuelling procedures (desirable)
  • Willingness to undertake additional duties as required
