Position Overview

We are looking for a driven and forward‑thinking Engineering Manager to lead engineering operations within the garage, ensuring buses meet TfL’s operational requirements with maximum reliability and performance.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all engineering operations, combining planned maintenance with dynamic problem‑solving to maximise reliability and performance.
• Diagnose and resolve complex mechanical and electrical issues.
• Manage, motivate, and lead a skilled team of engineers and technicians.
• Ensure strict adherence to safety regulations and engineering standards.
• Manage resources, including stock and budgeting, to optimise performance and cost efficiency.
• Stay ahead of industry advancements, including emission control systems, diesel‑electric hybrids, and electric vehicles.

Qualifications

• Proven leadership experience in an engineering management role.
• Strong technical expertise in bus engineering and maintenance, with interest in emerging vehicle technologies.
• Solid understanding of health & safety protocols; willingness to obtain NEBOSH General Certificate if not already held.
• Membership with IRTE (or equivalent professional qualification).
• Transport Manager CPC (or ability to obtain one).
• Ability to lead, inspire, and drive performance in a fast‑paced operational environment.
