Go-Ahead London is the capital’s largest bus operator, and we employ over 8,000 colleagues across 17 garages and Head Office, mostly based in South East, South West, North East and East London. The majority of our colleagues are professional Bus Drivers who are responsible for driving a quarter of London’s iconic red bus network on behalf of Transport for London (TfL) and transport the travelling public across London.
The company currently has a vacancy for an Engineering Clerk to be based at Peckham Garage, the Engineering Clerk is a key front-line role that plays a vital role in the successful delivery of Go-Ahead’s London services for Transport for London and the travelling public. Your role is to support garage performance, ensuring that day-to-day operations are conducted smoothly and professionally.
Responsibilities
The main duties of the post include:
- Keeping vehicle maintenance records up to date
- Administering building, plant and vehicle maintenance orders with approved contractors.
- Maintaining and keep up to date the personnel records for all the garage engineering colleagues.
- Supporting the team in producing letters and assist them with reporting on a variety of issues for example absence reports.
- Occasionally you will be required to attend meetings and take notes and then type them up afterwards.
- Keeping and maintain all statutory documents for the premises, plant and equipment and HSW legislation (COSHH, Risk Assessment etc.), ensuring that all documents are correctly filed and filed in a timely manner.
- Keeping engineering notice boards up to date.
- Additional ad hoc duties as requested.
Qualifications
We are looking for an enthusiastic administrator who has a methodical approach to working and a good eye for detail. Ideally you will be used to using Microsoft Office and full training on internal systems will be given, so you must be willing to learn. Additionally, you will need to demonstrate a good standard of verbal and written communication skills and have a good standard of numeracy. More important is your ability to keep confidential information relating to the colleagues you are working with, and we would expect discretion at all times in relation to sensitive issues. Finally, you will be able to work alone unsupervised and be able to demonstrate a flexible approach.
The salary for this post is £31,962 per annum.
