The role focuses on the exploitation of satellite and communication signals for positioning and navigation, with emphasis on extracting position-relevant information from GNSS and communication signals. Activities include contribution to simulation and modelling environments to evaluate data transmission, propagation effects and system-level performance using realistic channels (terrestrial and non-terrestrial), supporting navigation and PNT applications.
We are seeking a Signal Processing and Communications Engineer to join our UK-based team and contribute to the development and exploration of signal-processing solutions and communication protocols to assist positioning and navigation applications in demanding scenarios. The role focuses on GNSS and communication-assisted positioning, exploiting telecommunications standards and protocols (cellular-based positioning and assistance-data delivery including the use of NTN) to enhance robustness, availability and performance. The position offers the opportunity to work at the intersection of GNSS, signal processing and wireless communications.
Required knowledge and experience for this role includes:
- Signal processing techniques and communication protocols
- Mathematical background relevant to signal processing for positioning, including time–frequency analysis, estimation of delays and Doppler and stochastic modelling of measurement errors
- Practical experience in software development for signal processing algorithm implementation (C/C++, Python or similar)
We will also value previous experience and knowledge in:
- Familiarity with telecommunications standards related to positioning, including 3GPP (LPP, assistance data delivery over cellular networks and NTN)
- Exposure to NTN and 5G/IoT communication signals delivered via LEO/MEO/GEO satellites
- Experience with simulation frameworks for signal processing or communications
- Experience in CI/CD pipelines and Agile methodologies.
WHAT DO WE OFFER?
- Hybrid working model and 8 weeks per year of teleworking outside your usual geographical area.
- Personalised career plan development, training and language learning support.
- Competitive compensation with ongoing reviews, flexible compensation and discount on brands.
- Wellbeing program: Health, dental, free fruit and coffee, physical, mental and health training, and much more!
