An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated Solicitor to join a well-established and highly regarded Care Department based in Bromsgrove. This role offers the opportunity to handle a varied and rewarding caseload of public and private children law matters, working closely with vulnerable clients and making a genuine difference to families and children's lives.

The successful candidate will join a supportive and collaborative team environment, undertaking a significant amount of advocacy while managing their own caseload of complex care proceedings from instruction through to conclusion.

Key Responsibilities
  • Managing a diverse caseload of public and private children law matters, including complex care proceedings.
  • Representing parents, children, guardians, and other parties in care and family proceedings.
  • Conducting a high level of advocacy, including attendance at Court hearings and contested matters.
  • Providing clear, practical, and empathetic legal advice to clients throughout their matter.
  • Preparing cases effectively, including drafting legal documents, witness statements, and Court applications.
  • Working closely with clients, Counsel, experts, local authorities, and other stakeholders.
  • Ensuring compliance with Legal Aid Agency requirements, regulatory obligations, and internal procedures.
  • Managing deadlines effectively while maintaining exceptional standards of client care.
  • Contributing positively to a supportive team culture and assisting with the continued development of the department.
Candidate Requirements
  • Qualified Solicitor with a minimum of 5 years' PQE.
  • Significant experience handling both public and private children law matters.
  • Strong advocacy skills with the confidence to represent clients at Court.
  • Ability to manage a varied caseload independently while working collaboratively within a team.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and client care skills.
  • Professional, approachable, and empathetic manner when dealing with vulnerable clients.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work effectively under pressure.
Desirable
  • Law Society Children Law Accreditation.
  • Eligibility to meet Legal Aid Agency Supervisor requirements.
  • Candidates actively working towards Children Panel Accreditation or Supervisor Status are also encouraged to apply.
