GMP Recruitment are proud to be in partnership with a highly successful manufacturing company located in Worcestershire. We are currently supporting their recruitment and looking for an experienced Stores Controller to join their team on a full time, permanent contract. Working Monday – Friday working 37.5 hours a week. The salary on offer for this position is up to £26,325 per annum, which is demonstrable with experience. You will also receive excellent company benefits including onsite parking and pension contribution.

As a Stores Controller, it will be your job to ensure that all activities in the stores area are delivered in an effective and efficient manner. The ideal candidate for this will be able to demonstrate previous experience in a similar Stock Controller/Stores role, preferably within a manufacturing environment and have familiarity with stock control, order processing, purchase order processing, goods inward quality controls and sales order processing.

Main duties:
  • Receive inbound deliveries, verify goods against purchase orders, and inspect for quality, quantity, and condition. Accurately book stock into the inventory management system.
  • Maintain accurate stock levels through regular cycle counts and audits. Ensure parts and products are properly stored, clearly labelled, and easily accessible.
  • Prepare and issue kits for machine builds and production orders, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Pack and prepare outbound goods in line with shipping requirements and quality standards. Process dispatch paperwork and coordinate logistics when necessary.
  • Issue consumables and components to the production floor in a timely and traceable manner.
  • Keep the stores area clean, organised, and free from obstructions. Implement and maintain 5S principles to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Conduct local deliveries and collections as required, using company vehicles. A valid, clean driving licence is essential.
  • Assist the Purchasing Coordinator and other departments as needed to ensure smooth and efficient materials flow throughout the business.
  • Contribute to the improvement of stores processes and inventory accuracy, recommending changes where necessary.
Desired Skills and Experience:
  • Proven experience in a similar Stores, Stock Controller, or Inventory Management role—ideally within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • Proficiency with computerised stock systems and Microsoft Office applications (especially Excel); experience with ERP or MRP systems is highly advantageous.
  • Strong focus on accuracy and detail, particularly when handling goods, processing stock movements, or kitting components.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with colleagues across departments.
  • Well-organised, proactive, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Willingness to support colleagues and guide less experienced team members when required.
  • Able to perform manual handling duties and operate within a physically active role.
  • A full, clean UK driving licence is essential for this position due to transport responsibilities.
