GMP Recruitment are proud to be in partnership with a long-established and highly reputable UK manufacturer of precision-forged and machined components for the aerospace, defence, and other high-specification sectors. We are currently recruiting on their behalf for a number of Grinders to join their team. This is a full time, permanent position offering £14 p/h to start, plus shift allowance working Monday – Thursday 06:00am – 16:00pm. You will be assessed in 4-6 weeks with the look of increasing the hourly rate. We can start successful candidates on the 19th or 26th January which is subject to all HMRC checks being completed.
While experience is preferred, if you are a dedicated and reliable worker with a positive attitude and an eagerness to learn new skills, then we want to hear from you. As a Grinder, you will be responsible for operating grinding machinery to finish, smooth, and prepare aerospace components in line with technical specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements. This role requires strong attention to detail, good understanding of engineering drawings, and the ability to achieve tight tolerances.
Required skills and experience:
- Ability to work hard in a highly demanding manufacturing facility and a want to learn to read and interpret technical drawings and manufacturing specifications.
- Competency with precision measurement tools would be advantageous.
- Good understanding of grinding processes, abrasive wheel selection, feeds/speeds, and surface finish requirements.
- Strong attention to detail with a quality-first approach.
- Basic literacy and numeracy; engineering qualification (NVQ/Level 2/Apprenticeship) desirable.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
Due to the hours of work, own transportation would be beneficial.
