GMP Recruitment are proud to be partnered with a world-renowned British sports car manufacturer based in Malvern. We are supporting their recruitment for a Sheet Metal Specialist to join their Sheet Metal Department on a full-time, permanent basis. This position offers a competitive basic salary of up to £38,000 per annum, (dependant on experience) plus excellent company benefits. This is a rare opportunity to join one of the world’s most respected automotive craft manufacturers, where every vehicle is hand-built to order using a unique blend of heritage techniques and modern technology.
Sheet Metal Worker main duties:
- Manufacture hand-crafted body panels using traditional sheet metal techniques to create bespoke components for our clients prestigious vehicle range.
- Hammer form components, shaping both part-pressed and fully pressed elements with precision and consistency.
- TIG weld aluminium body panels to an exceptionally high standard, ensuring structural integrity and minimal distortion.
- Prepare assembled bodies and panels for the painting process, ensuring outstanding fit, finish, and presentation.
- Carry out a wide range of general fabrication and sheet metal tasks in line with production requirements.
- Manipulate pre-formed panels and fabricate complete coach-built bodies and bonnets ready for assembly.
- Work accurately to engineering drawings, production standards, and established manufacturing jigs.
Metal Sheet Worker required skills and experience:
- Proven credentials in Sheet Metal Work, Fabrication, and Welding (City & Guilds, NVQ, or equivalent).
- Basic TIG/MIG welding skills with an understanding of welding distortion control.
- Experience producing automotive body panels, ideally within niche, prestige, or coachbuilt vehicle environments.
- Skilled in preparing BIW (Body in White) assemblies for paint, ensuring perfect alignment and finish.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and apply them confidently to production.
- Previous experience within automotive manufacturing or structured production settings is advantageous.
- Ability to work to set time standards while maintaining exceptional craftsmanship and attention to detail.
- Comfortable working with manufacturing jigs and established production processes.
