GMP Recruitment are proud to be in partnership with a long-established and highly reputable UK manufacturer of precision-forged and machined components for the aerospace sectors. We are currently recruiting on their behalf for skilled Forge Operators to join their experienced team at their Redditch site. This role involves working with precision-forged and machined components that are essential within the aerospace, defence, and energy sectors. The successful candidate will play a key role within the forging function, contributing to the manufacture of high-quality aerospace components and pressing operations.
You will be responsible for ensuring customer requirements and internal quality processes are met, with all aerospace components produced to the highest standards. The position requires a strong understanding of written and diagrammatic instructions, good interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively within a quality-oriented business environment. Youβll use core mechanical skills and work collaboratively within a team to meet production, quality, and safety targets.
This position is working double days Monday β Friday 06:00am β 14:00pm and Monday β Friday 14:00pm β 22:00pm. Please only apply if you can commit to the shift patterns. Starting hourly rate is Β£14.00, which can increase following a 4-week check, plus shift allowance. Immediate interviews are available with an early 2026 start date.
Skilled Forge Operator main duties:- Work as part of the forging/manufacturing team producing precision-forged components for aerospace and other high-specification sectors.
- Use mechanical skills including fabrication, grinding, welding, and use of hand tools to support forging and pressing operations.
- Read and use precision measuring equipment and follow written and diagrammatic instructions.
- Follow forging processes and standard operating procedures to meet customer and internal quality standards.
- Support loading and unloading of furnaces and work with hot metal forming processes.
- Contribute to continuous improvement activities and help identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Able to read and interpret precision measurements and technical instructions.
- Good interpersonal skills to work effectively as part of a team.
- Knowledge of metal forming at elevated temperatures is advantageous.
- Responsible, proactive, and able to work under direction with minimal supervision.
- Flexible to work various shift patterns as required.
- Safety conscious with a strong awareness of workplace risks.
