Are you an experienced Project Engineer with CNC programming experience and a technical understanding of engineering and manufacturing processes employed in producing company products? Do you have experience within the plastics manufacturing industry? GMP Recruitment are proud to be partnered with a globally successful and highly recognisable manufacturer located in Droitwich. We are recruiting on their behalf for a Project Engineer to join their team on a full time, permanent contract.
This is a full time, permanent position working Monday β Friday 08:00am β 17:00pm offering a salary of Β£35K, negotiable pending relevant experience. The Project / Process Engineer is responsible for managing the New Product Introduction lifecycle, from initial component design to final customer approval, ensuring efficient manufacturing processes and high-quality product output. The successful candidate will work closely with toolmakers, customers, and internal teams to develop and optimize processes that align with customer specifications and industry standards and will also be responsible for supporting Manufacturing Operations in their daily activities, resolving tooling and equipment issues. Previous experience with plastic components is highly desirable.
Project Engineer main duties:
- Interpret and analyse engineering drawings and CAD data to ensure manufacturing feasibility and accurate tool designs.
- Oversee the placement of tooling orders, ensuring compliance with project requirements and deadlines.
- Evaluate and approve tool designs, ensuring alignment with product specifications, manufacturability, and cost-effectiveness.
- Manage toolmakers throughout the entire development process, from design to tool completion, ensuring adherence to quality and timeline expectations.
- Conduct regular progress reviews and resolve any design or manufacturing challenges with suppliers and toolmakers.
- Develop and refine manufacturing processes to optimize efficiency, quality, and cost.
- Plan and oversee tool trials, analysing trial data to validate tool performance and process capability.
- Identify and implement improvements to production processes based on trial results and feedback.
- Prepare comprehensive process documentation, including work instructions, setup sheets, and standard operating procedures.
- Conduct dimensional reporting and analysis, ensuring compliance with customer specifications and industry standards.
- Present dimensional reports and process validation data to customers, addressing technical inquiries and concerns.
Project Engineer required skills and experience:
- Ability to manage multiple deliverables simultaneously.
- Knowledge of engineering drawings, CAD software, and GD&T principles.
- Technical understanding of the engineering and manufacturing processes employed in producing company products.
- Proven experience in tooling, process development, and project engineering within the plastics manufacturing industry.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks CAD software.
- Strong time management and organisation skills.
- Excellent collaborative and communication skills.
- Ability to build professional relationships at all levels both inside the business and with suppliers & customers.
- Highly numerate with excellent levels of accuracy.
- Analytical capabilities and problem-solving skills.
