GMP Recruitment are proud to be partnered with a hugely successful, specialist treatment provider located in Oxfordshire. We are currently recruiting on their behalf for a Powder Coater/Sprayer to join their team on a full-time permanent contract. This position is working Monday - Friday on rotating double days shifts. A competitive salary is offered of up to £18 per hour dependent on experience.
The ideal candidate for this role will be an experienced, hands-on powder coating professional with a strong background in surface preparation, powder spraying, and curing processes. This is a key role where your expertise in applying high-quality powder coatings and maintaining finish standards will ensure operational excellence across the site.
As a Powder Coater / Sprayer, you will be responsible for delivering consistent, high-quality coating finishes, maintaining process controls, and supporting the production team to meet targets safely and efficiently.
Powder Coater / Sprayer Main Duties:- Verify components are correctly pre-treated (wash, phosphate, chromate-free, etc.) and inspect for contamination or damage before coating.
- Ensure parts are correctly masked and hung to specification.
- Apply powder coatings to specification using manual or automatic spray equipment.
- Maintain correct spray gun settings (kV, µA, air pressure, flow rates) and achieve specified film thickness.
- Monitor coating process to minimise defects such as Faraday cage issues, orange peel, or back ionisation.
- Ensure oven temperatures and cure times meet technical data sheet (TDS) requirements and support cure profiling as required.
- Inspect coated parts post-cure for adhesion, coverage, gloss level, and finish consistency.
- Conduct basic quality checks and segregate non-conforming products.
- Clean and maintain spray guns, hoppers, booths, and recovery systems.
- Carry out colour changes efficiently while preventing contamination.
- Ensure safe handling and storage of powders and maintain compliance with COSHH, PPE, and environmental regulations.
- Work to daily production targets and communicate effectively with pre-treatment, loading, and packing teams.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and assist with training or mentoring colleagues where required.
- Time-served experience in powder coating or industrial spraying.
- Knowledge of powder coating technical specifications, common defects, and root causes.
- Understanding of powder types (epoxy, polyester, hybrid) and appropriate applications.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a small team.
- Strong attention to detail with a proactive approach to defect prevention.
- Ability to maintain quality and safety standards while working efficiently.
- Physically active and able to remain on feet for the duration of the shift.
- Effective communication skills with colleagues across production stages.
- Commitment to maintaining excellent 5S and health & safety standards.
