GMP Recruitment are proud to be partnered with a well-respected and highly successful law firm, who serve clients nationwide. We are currently supporting their recruitment for a Legal Secretary to join their busy Family Law team on a full-time, permanent basis, located at their Cheltenham office. This is an Office based role.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced secretary with strong family law experience to join a progressive and forward-thinking legal practice. This is a full-time, permanent position, working Monday – Friday, 09:00am – 17:30pm, with a salary of up to Β£27,000, pending relevant experience.

As a Legal Secretary, you will provide high-quality secretarial and administrative support to a busy Family Law department, supporting a senior solicitor in handling a diverse and sensitive caseload. This role will suit someone with excellent organisational and communication skills, who can confidently manage a varied workload and work well under pressure in a fast-paced legal environment.

The ideal candidate for this position will be an experienced Legal Secretary with family law experience, strong typing skills, and excellent attention to detail, who is able to provide outstanding administrative support to the team.

Legal Secretary main duties:

  • Actively assist the senior solicitor in progressing family law matters from initiation to conclusion.
  • Liaise with clients, barristers, courts, and external agencies in a professional and empathetic manner.
  • Maintain and update case files, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Prepare and draft legal documents and correspondence as required.
  • Manage diaries, appointments, and scheduling for the team.
  • Undertake all associated administrative duties, including filing, photocopying, and document management.

Legal Secretary desired skills and experience:

  • Previous secretarial experience required, ideally within a family law setting.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to handle sensitive matters with discretion.
  • Excellent typing speeds and audio typing ability.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Familiarity with case management systems.
  • Proactive and able to use own initiative.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and manage competing deadlines.
  • A working knowledge of family law procedures would be highly advantageous.
