GMP Recruitment are proud to be working in partnership with a dynamic and growing organisation operating within the specialist vehicle manufacturing sector. We are currently recruiting on their behalf for an experienced Fitter to join the team on a full-time permanent contract. The company is based in the Kidderminster area. This role offers 39 hours per week, working Monday to Thursday. Salary is competitive and negotiable depending on experience.
Fitter – Main Responsibilities- Support the Production Manager and Foreman in developing a high standard of refuse collection vehicles.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, carrying out work in accordance with build pack specifications.
- Utilise power tools, hydraulics, and electrics during vehicle builds.
- Complete MIG welding tasks where required (desirable but not essential).
- Work efficiently to meet build process deadlines.
- Identify and raise issues during the build process, accurately recording any changes.
- Capture and record build information to support future standardisation.
- Support sub-contractors (including camera, weigh, and ancillary system providers) while on site.
- Monitor build progress and liaise with management to coordinate sub-contractor appointments.
- Complete all relevant paperwork and documentation.
- Assist with preparations for vehicle inspections and testing.
- Carry out additional duties as required in line with business needs.
- Mechanical knowledge, ideally gained within commercial vehicles or a similar industry.
- Working knowledge of power tools, hydraulics, and vehicle electrics.
- MIG welding experience is desirable but not essential.
- Strong communication skills are essential.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Flexible, reliable, and willing to learn.
- Ability to work to time constraints and customer specifications.
