GMP Recruitment are proud to be working in partnership with a well-established and reputable manufacturer within the industrial and production sector. We are currently recruiting on their behalf for a Maintenance Engineer to join their team on a full-time, permanent basis based in the Herefordshire area. This is a day shift role, working Monday to Friday from 09:00 – 17:00.

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining plant, equipment, and site infrastructure through a combination of planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs, ensuring minimal downtime and safe, efficient operations.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Ensure a safe working environment at all times, complying fully with Health & Safety policies and procedures.
  • Carry out routine inspections of plant and equipment to identify potential issues.
  • Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) activities in line with schedules.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults efficiently.
  • Respond promptly to breakdowns to minimise disruption to production.
  • Maintain plant and equipment to a safe and operational standard at all times.
  • Support installation of new machinery and equipment, including both mechanical and electrical work.
  • Carry out general repairs and maintenance of site facilities and infrastructure.
  • Manage and monitor critical spare parts, ensuring adequate stock levels are maintained.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping within the maintenance workshop and work areas.
  • Accurately complete maintenance records, reports, and documentation.
  • Plan and schedule maintenance activities, including PPM and reactive repairs.
  • Liaise with and supervise external contractors on site, ensuring compliance with company standards.
  • Prepare cost estimates and parts lists for planned maintenance and improvement works.
Required Skills and Experience:
  • Proven experience within a maintenance or engineering role in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
  • Good understanding of plant and process equipment.
  • Experience working with plastics, polymers, or PVC-based manufacturing processes.
  • Previous involvement in contractor management and site projects.
  • Formal engineering or maintenance qualification (desirable).
  • Electrical qualification such as City & Guilds or equivalent (preferred).
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage workload effectively.
  • Experience maintaining accurate records and working to maintenance schedules.
