Location: UK Based with International Travel

Role Overview

We are seeking a hands-on Commissioning Engineer to commission, test, calibrate, and optimise advanced test systems and equipment at customer sites across the UK and internationally. Working closely with mechanical, electrical, and automation engineers, you will ensure systems are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Commission and validate test systems, plant equipment, and associated infrastructure.
  • Configure and calibrate electrical, mechanical, instrumentation, and data acquisition systems.
  • Perform PID tuning of control loops including speed, torque, and temperature control.
  • Support the testing and validation of bespoke automation and control software.
  • Configure automated test sequences and perform system testing.
  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues during commissioning and service activities.
  • Work with customers to achieve successful system acceptance and sign-off.
  • Deliver operator training and technical support.
  • Assist with commissioning schedules and project delivery.
  • Undertake calibration, maintenance, and fault-finding visits as required.
  • Support continuous improvement of commissioning processes and procedures.

Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Experience commissioning industrial, automotive, or process systems.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and control systems.
  • Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively.
  • Strong communication and customer-facing skills.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Willingness to travel regularly within the UK and overseas.

Desirable

  • Experience with automotive test systems, dynamometers, EV, battery, or powertrain testing.
  • Knowledge of PLCs, automation systems, and industrial networks.
  • Experience of FAT/SAT activities and customer training.
