GMP Recruitment are proud to be in partnership with a well‑established precision engineering company based in Birmingham. We are currently recruiting on their behalf for an experienced CNC Toolmaker / CNC Miller to join their team on a full time, permanent basis. Applications will also be considered from apprentice trained Toolroom Improvers looking to further develop their career within a skilled engineering environment. This position works Monday to Friday, offers a competitive salary dependent on experience, with an early finish on Fridays.
Role Overview
As a CNC Toolmaker / CNC Miller, you will play a key role within the toolroom team, supporting the manufacture, modification, and repair of a wide variety of tooling, jigs, fixtures, and precision engineered components. This is a hands‑on position requiring a high level of skill, accuracy, and the ability to work from engineering drawings with minimal supervision.
Responsibilities
- Carry out CNC milling operations using XYZ machines.
- Manufacture tooling including jigs, fixtures, and production tooling.
- Produce one‑off and small batch precision components to customer specifications.
- Undertake tool repair, maintenance, and modification work.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings to ensure accurate manufacture.
- Work closely with engineering and production teams to meet deadlines and quality standards.
- Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
- Maintain a clean and organised working environment in line with company procedures.
Required Skills and Experience
- Previous experience as a Toolmaker, CNC Miller, or within a toolroom environment.
- Strong CNC milling experience, ideally with XYZ controls.
- Ability to read and work from detailed engineering drawings.
- Experience producing one‑off, bespoke, and small batch components.
- Hands‑on approach with excellent attention to detail.
- Self‑motivated with strong problem‑solving abilities.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Apprentice trained candidates or Toolroom Improvers are encouraged to apply.
