We are recruiting for an accomplished Legal Compliance Manager to play a pivotal role within a Risk & Compliance team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong background in legal compliance who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, influencing best practice, and ensuring the highest regulatory standards are maintained.

Main Duties

  • Managing the firm's compliance framework to ensure ongoing adherence to SRA Standards and Regulations, Anti-Money Laundering legislation, GDPR and applicable FCA requirements.
  • Supervising and developing the Compliance Administrator, providing guidance, support and performance management.
  • Overseeing the client onboarding process, including conflict checks, risk assessments and file opening procedures.
  • Reviewing and maintaining compliance policies, regulatory registers and firm-wide risk registers.
  • Conducting regular file audits to ensure regulatory compliance, quality standards and best practice are consistently met.
  • Managing AML processes, including customer due diligence, enhanced due diligence and ongoing monitoring, while supporting the firm's MLRO.
  • Preparing Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) and assisting with reporting obligations where required.
  • Working alongside the Head of Risk & Compliance to implement regulatory changes and support strategic risk initiatives.
  • Producing insightful quarterly compliance reports for the Management Board, using data to identify trends and areas for improvement.

Required skills and experience

  • Previous experience in a Compliance Manager position within a law firm.
  • A thorough understanding of SRA Standards and Regulations, the Solicitors Accounts Rules, AML legislation and FCA regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Strong organisational abilities and the confidence to manage multiple priorities.
  • Outstanding communication skills with the ability to build relationships across all levels of the business.
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach with a genuine passion for compliance and regulatory excellence.
