GMP Recruitment are proud to be working in partnership with a leading manufacturing organisation to recruit an experienced Quality, Health, Safety & Environment (QHSE) Manager on a full-time permanent basis. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing business based in Oxfordshire, where you will play a key role in driving quality, safety, environmental compliance and continuous improvement across the organisation.
Reporting directly to the Head of Manufacturing, you will be responsible for leading the development, implementation and continuous improvement of the company's Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental management systems, ensuring compliance with UK legislation, industry standards and company policies while promoting a positive culture of operational excellence.
Main Responsibilities:- Lead the ongoing development, implementation and maintenance of the company's Quality, Health, Safety & Environmental management systems.
- Maintain and continually improve the Quality Management System in line with ISO 9001 (or equivalent).
- Plan and conduct internal audits while coordinating and supporting external audit processes.
- Investigate, manage and resolve non-conformities, implementing corrective and preventative actions.
- Analyse quality data and identify opportunities for continuous improvement across manufacturing operations.
- Develop, review and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and quality documentation.
- Ensure compliance with UK Health & Safety legislation, including the Health and Safety at Work Act, PUWER, COSHH, RIDDOR and other relevant regulations.
- Produce and review risk assessments, method statements, safe systems of work and health & safety procedures.
- Conduct workplace inspections, safety audits and accident/incident investigations.
- Monitor and report on H&S KPIs, accident statistics and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Promote a proactive safety culture through coaching, training, toolbox talks and employee engagement initiatives.
- Develop and maintain the Environmental Management System in line with ISO 14001 (or equivalent).
- Ensure compliance with environmental legislation relating to waste management, emissions, pollution control and sustainability.
- Lead environmental improvement initiatives focused on reducing waste, improving resource efficiency and supporting sustainable manufacturing practices.
- Work collaboratively with operational teams to ensure quality, safety and environmental standards are embedded throughout the business.
- Support continuous improvement activities and contribute to operational excellence across the manufacturing function.
- Degree qualification, HNC/HND, apprenticeship or equivalent qualification within an Engineering or Manufacturing discipline.
- Formal Quality and/or Health & Safety qualification is highly desirable.
- Previous experience managing Quality, Health, Safety & Environmental systems within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and Health & Safety management systems.
- Good understanding of UK Health & Safety legislation, including PUWER, COSHH and RIDDOR.
- Experience conducting internal audits and supporting external accreditation audits.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a continuous improvement mindset.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Highly organised with strong planning and project management abilities.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles would be advantageous.
- Experience within a surface finishing or process-driven manufacturing environment is desirable.
