GMK (previously Gunmark until 1998) was established in 1971, headquartered in Fareham, Hampshire and employs c65 full time staff. A distributor and importer of shotguns, rifles, ammunition and accessories for the UK sports shooting market, GMK also supplies firearms, ammunition and accessories to law enforcement agencies and the Ministry of Defence.

We are seeking a highly organized, commercially minded Operations Manager to oversee the internal Sales Office function at GMK. This role is pivotal in supporting the brand portfolio, ensuring exceptional dealer service and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will lead by example, be process-driven, and possess a strong background in operations management.

Day to day Responsibilities:

  • Lead and motivate the Sales Office, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and collaboration.
  • Maintain high standards of appearance, attendance, enthusiasm, and courtesy across both teams.
  • Ensure the team is up to date with product knowledge and changes within the brand portfolio.
  • Collaborate closely with the Head of Sales to enhance dealer relationships and service levels.
  • Continually review and optimise business processes to improve efficiency and streamline operations.
  • Work closely with the Workshop Manager and Warehouse managers to ensure best in class aftersales service.
  • Drive sales growth through effective upselling and cross-selling strategies.
  • Oversee and ensure timely deliveries aligned with service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Promote teamwork and open communication across departments.
  • Ensure compliance with firearms legislation.
  • Represent the company and brands at trade events, sales meetings, and industry competitions.
  • Collaborate with Procurement to manage inbound stock requirements alongside management of old lines.
  • Uphold company policies, procedures, and regulatory obligations, including ISO and internal standards.
  • Encourage teamwork through good communication and information sharing and promote a strong work ethic.

About You / Competencies:

  • Extensive operational experience in sales support environments.
  • Demonstrated success in customer service and staff management.
  • Be an active and competent shooter, with a keen general interest in the sport and be able to relate to customer’s specific needs.
  • Understanding of effective selling skills and principles coinciding with best practices of customer service.
  • Aware of the commercial aims and objectives of the Company/Brand.
  • Solid communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Use of analytics to support business decisions.
  • Ability to travel freely in the EU and US.
