It is a busy and exciting time at the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) and Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM). The landscape with regard to managing, sharing and using information and data is changing at a rapid pace. This requires an information governance approach that is innovative, accessible and consistent to enable public service delivery across the GM City Region.

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Information Governance Officer to join our team and lead on driving forward our internal Information Governance compliance.

As the Senior Information Governance Officer you will have responsibility for ensuring that the team manage Freedom of Information Requests, Environmental Information Regulations requests and Individual Access Rights requests in a timely manner, ensuring compliance to deadlines and facilitating effective reporting processes.

You will take an active role in the organisations information security incident management processes and work to put measures in place which proactively improve our resiliency to data breaches and information security incidents.

About you

We are looking for a passionate Information Governance professional who will embrace the opportunity of working within a dynamic Information Governance service in an exciting and changeable political environment. Have significant experience of managing FOI, EIR and individual access rights requests within a complex organisation and have experience of meeting statutory deadlines. You will ideally have experience of managing a team or have reached the time in your career where you are ready for this challenge.

  • Advise where appropriate on key accountability documentation such as DPIAs and facilitate the accurate logging and co-ordination of requests which come into the team.
  • Provide bespoke advice, when appropriate, on specific projects to ensure compliance with the data protection framework. This may include advising on lawful basis and conditions for processing, transparency requirements including privacy notices and matters relating to records management.

As the Senior Information Governance Officer you will be accountable to one of the Information Governance Leads in the team and will provide assurance to them over the management of the business as usual processes.
