The Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) brings together ten local councils to drive regional development and public service innovation. Located at the Tootal Buildings in Manchester, GMCA focuses on areas such as transport, health, housing, policing, and economic growth. Through collaboration among local leaders, public bodies, and community partners, the authority delivers integrated services designed to improve the lives of Greater Manchester residents.

The Complex Safeguarding team operates within GMCA’s Safer and Stronger Communities team, overseeing police, crime, criminal justice, and fire services. This team plays a crucial part in promoting safety and accountability throughout the Greater Manchester region.

The Role:

This position is both varied and impactful, positioned at the heart of the complex safeguarding team. Working closely with the Head of Complex Safeguarding, the successful candidate will help coordinate efforts to protect vulnerable individuals from exploitation and harm across Greater Manchester.

Building and maintaining strong relationshipsboth within the team and with external partners such as law enforcement, criminal justice agencies, and elected representativesis core to the role.

A significant element involves preparing detailed correspondence and comprehensive reports for the Deputy Mayor and senior leadership, making up-to-date knowledge of policy and practice developments at various government levels especially valuable.

At its core, this position plays a pivotal role in advancing the principles of complex safeguarding, ensuring that vulnerable individuals receive coordinated protection and support. By scrutinising safeguarding practices and promoting accountability, the role directly contributes to upholding the highest standards of care and safety across Greater Manchester.

About You:

A solid educational background or relevant experience is important in a team environment.

Strong interpersonal skills are necessary for building relationships with colleagues, external organisations, senior staff, political members, and the public.

Experience in multi-agency collaboration, project planning, meeting deadlines, and drafting reports or official communications is recognised.

Proficiency in Microsoft systems is required, as well as a willingness to learn new in-house ICT packages.

These competencies support working effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative setting.
