JOB DESCRIPTION
GMB is one of the UK and Ireland'slargest trade unions; we’re proud to represent over half a million people from across the professional spectrum and all walks of life.
Our North-East, Yorkshire & Humber Region is a large and diverse region, andis currentlyseeking applications for an Organising Assistant.
The successful postholder will be expected to travel to locations in the regionand actively engage in supporting the regionto build and grow our membership by assisting the union officers to identify unorganised workplaces for recruitment and assist in the recruitment and retention of members.
We're looking for someone who possesses the ability to work well independently but is also a real team player.
The successful candidates will
- Possess a flexible attitude and a full range of organising, recruitment and administrative skills as outlined in the job description.
- Be able to work on their own initiative to undertake duties in a professional and efficient manner.
- Have an understanding of the GMB Union, other Trade Unions as well as commitment to the wider Trade Union and Labour Movement.
- Applicants must be prepared to work as a team, and the successful candidate would display strong interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate effectively in challenging environments.
- On a personal basis, the applicants would need to display energy, enthusiasm, resilience, commitment, and an ability to use initiative.
