M&E Estimator
Location: Central London
Hours per week: 40 hours

Our client, an established M&E contractor delivering commercial projects up to GBP20m, is looking to appoint an experienced M&E Estimator to join their team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive tenders for M&E projects up to approximately GBP2m, working closely with suppliers, subcontractors, clients and internal teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare competitive tender packages and first-principles pricing up to GBP2m.
- Produce detailed cost plans and preliminary costs.
- Carry out take-offs from drawings and specifications.
- Issue enquiries to suppliers and subcontractors and analyse returned quotations.
- Undertake site surveys where required.
- Work closely with the Building Estimator on joint bids.
- Produce clear, itemised estimates with transparent mark‑ups.
- Support negotiations, supplier selection and tender close‑out.
- Assist with handovers to the delivery team and identify value engineering opportunities.
- Manage multiple tenders and meet tight deadlines.
About You
- Minimum 5 years' experience as an M&E Estimator with an M&E contractor.
- Experience pricing commercial tenders up to approximately GBP2m.
- Experience using take-off and estimating software.
- Experience costing/measuring against NSR schedules.
- Strong commercial, analytical and organisational skills.
- Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
- Knowledge of MTC, JCT and NEC contracts.
- HNC or equivalent in Electrical, Mechanical or Building Services Engineering would be advantageous.
- Confident working with clients, suppliers and subcontractors.
Qualifications & Technical Knowledge
- A relevant Estimating or Design qualification.
- HNC or equivalent qualification in Electrical, Mechanical or Building Services Engineering.
- Knowledge of MTC, JCT and NEC forms of contract.
- Experience supporting contract bid submissions, including costing against specifications and NSR schedules.
