We are looking for a reliable and skilled Ground Worker/Handyman to join an Estate Maintenance Team at a prestigious historic building in London. This is a temporary position with the opportunity to transition into a permanent role based on performance. The successful candidate will play an essential part in ensuring the upkeep and preservation of this beautiful property. This role will support the Supervisor and wider team in delivering high-quality repairs and maintenance across the estates properties and grounds. If you have a strong background in general building, groundworks, and hard landscaping, this is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a dedicated team that takes pride in maintaining a prestigious estate.
Key Responsibilities
- General ground maintenance.
- Carry out general property repairs, including decorating and fabric maintenance.
- Undertake paving repairs, light groundworks, and upkeep of cobbled and kerbed areas.
- Maintain roofs, gutters, and hopper heads, ensuring proper drainage and functionality.
- Work safely at height using scaffolding and towers when necessary.
- Apply knowledge of Listed Buildings and conservation techniques (desirable but not essential).
- Provide a high standard of workmanship in a customer-facing environment.
- Follow health and safety procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
- Collaborate with the Work Scheduling Team to ensure efficiency and meet KPIs.
- Represent the Maintenance Team in projects and meetings as required.
About You
- Previous experience in groundskeeping, estate maintenance, or a similar handyman role.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and a passion for maintaining historic buildings.
- Ability to handle physical tasks and work in all weather conditions.
- Good understanding of health & safety requirements.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- A full driving license is essential.
