The Facility Technician assists the Facilities Department in the maintenance and upkeep of GMPPU facilities. Responsibilities include maintaining facility equipment; assisting in the cleaning of restrooms, offices, and hallways; performing safety inspections and patrolling the facilities and grounds for suspicious activity along with enforcing parking rules. Must be able to assist staff members in facilities-related tasks when required.
Key Responsibilities
- Operating forklifts and aerial lifts in a safe and controlled manner.
- Paint, remodel, and refurbish areas as needed.
- Repair, maintain/monitor all facility equipment and amenities.
- Clean windows and glass doors.
- Change all equipment filters as required.
- Replace light bulbs, interior and exterior, as needed.
- Prepare the facility for events, such as vendor meetings, holiday events, orientations, catered meals, etc.
- Help maintain the grounds, such as trash removal, cigarette pickup, snow removal, etc.
- Assist with equipment installation and removals.
- Aid in daily interior trash removal, facility cleaning, and restocking.
- Perform other assigned duties as requested by supervisor and manager.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Background in facilities maintenance; 3+ years’ experience.
- Hold current certification in forklift and aerial lift operation or have held within the last year.
- Previous use of CMMS systems.
- Physical ability to regularly lift objects weighing 50 pounds.
- Ability to climb ladders.
- Ability to understand and apply lock-out/tag-out procedures.
- Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and carpentry.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Must demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work weekends as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in facilities maintenance.
Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration. The employee is frequently exposed to a variety of weather conditions on facility grounds. The noise level in the work environment and facility grounds can be loud.
Physical Demands: This role requires the ability to perform tasks involving frequent physical activity. Employees in this position must be able to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, and climb throughout the workday. This role also requires regular communication, both verbal and auditory, to effectively carry out duties. Employees must be able to lift and move objects weighing more than 50 pounds on a frequent basis.
