We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated GMPPU Dyno Technician to join our advanced powertrain testing team. This role involves hands-on installation, instrumentation, and testing of Units Under Test (UUTs) on state-of-the-art dynamometer test beds. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical and electrical background, with a deep understanding of internal combustion engines and associated systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Installation & Setup: Install and configure UUTs (engines, gearboxes, etc.) on advanced dynamometer test beds. Set up and calibrate instrumentation including temperature, pressure, flow, vibration sensors, and speed encoders.
- Instrumentation & Data Logging: Ensure accurate and reliable data acquisition from UUTs. Monitor and maintain data logging systems throughout test cycles.
- Test Execution & Analysis: Execute test programs with a focus on precision, repeatability, and efficiency. Perform first-line analysis and interpretation of test results. Maintain dyno run logs and monitor test bed performance and efficiency.
- Fault Diagnosis & Resolution: Identify faults in UUTs and test rigs, and report issues through appropriate channels. Proactively troubleshoot and resolve issues to minimize downtime.
- Process Improvement: Identify inefficiencies in current testing processes and propose actionable improvements. Support continuous improvement initiatives within the test facility.
- Facility Operation: Operate test equipment and facility systems in accordance with work instructions and established procedures. Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
Required Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of internal combustion engine systems including cooling, lubrication, intake, and exhaust.
- Experience with race gearbox systems is a plus.
- Hands-on experience in test cell operations, preferably with AVL systems.
- Skilled in fabrication and prototyping using mill, lathe, press drill, sheet metal, and welding tools.
- Proficient in plumbing tasks including fabrication of hydraulic hoses, high-pressure fuel lines, and coolant systems.
- Familiarity with pumps, pressure regulators, filter manifolds, and heat exchangers.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced testing environment.
- Excellent problem-solving and fault-finding capabilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Technical diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related field.
- Prior experience in a motorsport or high-performance engine testing environment.
- Knowledge of data acquisition systems and test automation tools.
