CNC Programmer - Onsite Job Summary
GM PPU is seeking an experienced CNC Programmer to join our innovative team in Concord, NC. In this mission-critical position, you'll develop and optimise programs for high-precision machining of complex components, utilising the latest CAM software and CNC technologies. Based at our state-of-the-art facility, you'll play a key role in enabling the production of performance parts that power our high-spec propulsion systems in a fast-paced, innovation-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Program CNC manufacturing equipment to manufacture components to the absolute highest quality standards.
- Create tool lists, in-process documentation, and general set-up sheets to assist technicians in getting jobs running effectively.
- Work closely with the quality inspection group to make machine adjustments as needed to bring parts into spec.
- Maintain meticulous records related to post and tool database modifications.
Required Qualifications
- Certificate in machine shop technology or machine tool technology/machinist.
- 5+ years of practical working experience in the manufacturing / metal-cutting industry.
- Strong experience with computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) software.
- NX and/or Mastercam experience preferred.
- Recent experience and knowledge of Fanuc, Siemens, and other CNC controls.
- Strong background with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.).
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering and other teams.
- Motivated self-starter.
- Strong attention to detail and a ‘can-do’ attitude.
- Overly detail oriented in all aspects of the job is an absolute must.
- Experience with simultaneous 5-axis machining and mill-turn style machines.
- Advanced understanding of the CNC machining process.
- Advanced understanding of materials (metals) and cutting tools.
- Advanced understanding of macro programming.
- Advanced understanding of how to process parts effectively to achieve the best surface finish and dimensional accuracy.
- Familiarity with CNC probing routines and usage.
- Understanding of mathematics.
- Interpret technical blueprints and designs to understand the specifications and requirements of a part.
- Must have a thorough understanding of GD&T principles.
- Select, align, and secure workholding fixtures, cutting tools, and materials onto machines.
- Adhere to safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
