A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Commercial Property Assistant to join a well-established and supportive legal team in Eastbourne. This role is ideal for someone with a background in commercial property, legal secretarial work, or similar, who is confident managing files, engaging with clients, and keeping transactions running smoothly.

Working closely with a dedicated commercial property lawyer, you’ll provide high-quality administrative and file management support, helping to progress matters promptly and in line with procedures and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide day-to-day administrative support to the supervising lawyer.
  • Communicate professionally with clients, solicitors, estate agents, business brokers, and other third parties.
  • Handle new business enquiries and prepare quotes under the lawyer’s direction.
  • Open new files and obtain AML/KYC documentation.
  • Prepare sale packs and request searches, indemnity policies, and other key documents.
  • Obtain Land Registry documents as required.
  • Draft basic legal documents and correspondence.
  • Answer telephone calls and assist with straightforward enquiries.
  • Support with exchange and completion processes on non-complex matters.
  • Prepare completion statements, redemption statements, internal paperwork, and engrossments.
  • Generate bills as requested.
  • Manage completions, payments, and SDLT submissions.
  • Assist with Land Registry applications including AP1s, RX1s, CN1s, FR1s.
  • Assist with file closures and archiving.
About You
  • Prior experience in commercial property, legal secretarial work, or a similar legal support role.
  • Solid understanding of legal office processes and commercial property procedures.
  • Confident using case management systems and MS Office.
  • Excellent organisational skills and a keen eye for detail.
  • Ability to work proactively and manage competing priorities.
