Our client are seeking an ambitious structural engineer to become a key member of their close-knit team of highly skilled and experienced professionals in an independent consultancy based in Inverness. They are a well respected, established and progressive consultancy who have been operating for over 20 years with a wide range of projects across a variety of sectors in the Highlands and Islands. Job Description As a Chartered Engineer, the successful candidate will join the Senior Management Team working directly with the Company Directors in the technical and commercial management of projects from concept to completion. The job will involve • Undertaking or supervising structural design and overseeing production of design drawings and documents. • Leading and mentoring team members in the production of designs and drawings. Providing technical support to junior team members as part of their training and development. • Liaising with clients, design teams and contractors and taking a lead role in the delivery of projects. • Carrying out structural surveys and assessing existing buildings. • Controlling project budgets including fee proposals to clients and resource allocation. • Ensuring compliance with the Company quality policy. • Contributing to business growth by identifying new opportunities, preparing proposals and participating in client presentations. Requirements The candidate should have the following: • A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering and be Chartered with the ICE or IStructE. • Experience of structural design in timber, steel, concrete and masonry, including design of foundations. • Experience in the production and review of construction drawings. • A confident and proactive approach to working with clients and project teams. • Knowledge of Eurocodes and British Standards. • Experience of specifying /carrying out ground investigation. • Knowledge of the SER certification scheme with aspirations to become a certifier. • Experience of working with both new and existing buildings. • Experience of working with drafting and analysis software such as Revit and Tekla. • Drivers licence. This role is only open to candidates who do not require any kind of visa sponsorship either now or in future. There is a preference for candidates to have experience of projects within the UK.
