Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated GP, committed to delivering high-quality patient care, to join our friendly and supportive team.
Glyndon Medical Centre is a well-established, three-partner PMS practice operating across two sites in Woolwich and Plumstead.
Serving a diverse population of just over 7,000 patients, we pride ourselves on providing compassionate, patient-centred care and working collaboratively to meet the needs of our local community.
We are seeking a Salaried GP to join our experienced multidisciplinary team in delivering high-quality clinical care.
The successful candidate will work closely with colleagues to provide excellent patient services, contribute to practice development, and help ensure the effective implementation of practice policies and procedures.
This role is offered on a part-time basis of 2-3 sessions per week (0.25-0.38 FTE) with a competitive salary dependent on experience.

Main duties of the job
- Provide high-quality, patient-centred clinical care to a diverse suburban patient population, undertaking the full range of duties associated with a GP working in primary care.
- Work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team to deliver safe, effective and evidence-based care, treatment and advice to patients.
- Undertake a mixture of face-to-face and telephone consultations within 3-hour clinical sessions, supported by dedicated time for associated administrative work.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical records, ensuring compliance with practice policies, professional standards, confidentiality, data protection and health and safety requirements.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of high-quality patient records, including the use of electronic patient record systems, summarising records and clinical coding where appropriate.
- Participate in clinical audit, quality improvement initiatives and the evaluation of services to support continuous improvement and best practice.
- Contribute to clinical governance, standard setting and the ongoing development of practice services.
- Engage in continuing professional development and attend relevant training, educational events and practice meetings as required.
About us
Working collaboratively with our PCN colleagues, the local ICB and other neighboring practices, our experienced multidisciplinary team consists of 3 GP Partners, a Salaried GP, 2 Practice Nurses, a Clinical Pharmacist, Physiotherapist, Social Prescriber, Mental Health Nurse and Podiatrist, who are very well supported by established and highly committed management, reception and administrative teams.
We are a small, close-knit team, who are very supportive of each other, and encourage the sharing of information and ideas.

Clinical responsibilities
- In accordance with the Practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make him/her-self available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork, reports and correspondence in a timely fashion.
- Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation.
- Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
- Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
- In consultation with patients and in line with current Practice disease management protocols, developing care plans for health.
- Providing counselling and health education.
- Admitting or discharging patients to and from the caseload and referring to other care providers as appropriate.
- Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.
- Collecting data for audit purposes and complying with QOF requirements.
- Delivering enhanced services.
- Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand-written prescriptions whenever possible).
- Prescribing in accordance with the Practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate.
- In general the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.

- Awareness of and compliance with all relevant Practice policies/guidelines, e. g. prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, health and safety.
- A commitment to life-long learning and audit to ensure evidence-based best practice.
- Contributing to evaluation/audit and clinical standard setting within the organisation.

- Contributing to the summarising of patient records and Read-Coding patient data.
- Attending training and events organised by the Practice or other agencies, where appropriate.
