Wrexham University is an ambitious, inclusive and forward-looking institution committed to transforming lives through education. As we continue to strengthen our academic portfolio, enhance the student experience and respond to an evolving higher education landscape, we are seeking an exceptional Head of Quality to lead and develop our academic quality assurance and enhancement framework for a 12 month period, covering maternity leave.
This is a senior leadership role providing expert advice, institutional oversight and professional leadership across all aspects of academic quality assurance and enhancement. Working closely with the Director of SPSA, as well as members of the University Executive Team, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the University continues to meet and exceed regulatory expectations while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and academic excellence.
About the Role
As Head of Quality, you will lead the University's Quality Office and be responsible for the development, implementation and continuous enhancement of quality assurance policies, procedures and frameworks that support high standards, student success and institutional ambitions. You will serve as the University's principal expert on quality assurance and regulatory matters, ensuring compliance with UK and Welsh higher education requirements and maintaining productive relationships with external quality bodies and regulators.
A key aspect of the role will be providing assurance on academic quality to senior leaders and governors and supporting the University in delivering an outstanding academic experience for all students, as well as leading preparations for any external quality reviews and audits that may occur.
About You
We are seeking a confident and experienced higher education professional with a strong track record of leadership in academic quality assurance and enhancement. You will be able to demonstrate:
- Educated to bachelor's and (ideally) master's degree level, with substantial management experience in higher education.
- Extensive expertise in UK higher education academic quality assurance, enhancement, and regulatory/audit processes.
- Strong leadership, negotiation, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities, with a collaborative, professional, and solution-focused approach.
Desirable: experience as an external quality assurance reviewer and the ability to communicate in Welsh.
