The Role of the Private Client Solicitor

  • Conduct matters on behalf of clients in Private Client Law and related matters
  • Maintain orderly and up-to-date files including electronic files and complying with the companies’ policies on file management
  • Financial control including managing cash flow for the team through efficient billing and payment procedures
  • Recognising fee-earning opportunities and developing those opportunities
  • Compliance with the Solicitors Accounts Rules and Code of Conduct and the Money Laundering Regulations in accordance with current guidance from the SRA and the company
  • Identifying and meeting job-related training and development targets
  • Supervision of fee-earning work undertaken by junior members of the team

The Ideal Private Client Solicitor will possess:

  • Solicitor qualification with 4+ years PQE in Private Client work
  • STEP qualification desirable
  • Experience in all aspects of Private Client Law - including wills, trusts, lasting powers of attorney, probate and contentious probate, inheritance tax and estate planning.
  • Ability to carry out case work accurately without supervision
  • Excellent communication and personal skills
  • A network of existing contacts
  • Ability to build the client base and help market the company’s wider services
  • Self-motivated and clear thinking
