This is a senior role responsible for ensuring the safe, effective and compliant management of medical equipment supporting clinical and operational services across Gloucestershire Royal Hospital, Cheltenham General Hospital and associated facilities. The postholder will act as the organisation's professional lead for medical equipment engineering, providing expert oversight of governance, performance and risk, and ensuring alignment with national standards and regulatory requirements.
The role combines operational leadership with strategic responsibility, contributing to long-term planning for equipment lifecycle management, capital investment and service development. The postholder will provide assurance to senior leadership and governance committees and will also play a role in supporting services delivered to external customers as part of GMS's growing commercial portfolio.
You will lead the delivery and continuous improvement of medical equipment engineering services, ensuring high standards of safety, compliance and performance across all sites. This includes oversight of equipment maintenance, risk management, audit and assurance processes, and performance reporting against agreed standards.
You will provide authoritative professional advice to clinical and senior leaders, supporting informed decision-making on medical equipment use, investment and risk. The role includes leadership of the workforce, ensuring appropriate capacity, capability and resilience, alongside contributing to capital planning, procurement activity and lifecycle management.
You will work with internal and external stakeholders, including regulators, suppliers and external customers, supporting the delivery and development of services beyond the Trust and contributing to the sustainability and growth of the service.
