Overview: The Sterile Services Department reprocesses reusable surgical devices for internal theatre, wards and outpatient clinics. We also provide a service to external GP Surgeries and Health Centres. The department operates seven days a week, delivering diverse tasks within an essential service that offers opportunities to develop and progress, with a commitment to patient care.

Shift Pattern: You will be working Sunday-Thursday 22:00 - 6:00 shift pattern. (2 x 37.5 hrs in Gloucester and 1 x 15 hours weekend in Cheltenham).

Responsibilities:

  • Cleaning, inspecting, assembling, and packing instrument trays according to written and/or verbal instructions.
  • Use the department's tracking and traceability system.
  • Work on a rota basis, including bank holidays and out-of-hours cover.

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good numeracy and literacy skills.
  • Good retention memory.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Manual dexterity and ability to handle heavy instrumentation.
  • Willingness to learn new skills.
  • No prior experience required as full induction and training will be given.
  • Good PC skills.
