Are you looking for an exciting new challenge? Gloucestershire County Council (GCC) is seeking a dynamic and experienced Area Highway Manager to join our Highways Operations team.

About the role

This is a pivotal role where you will be responsible for managing multiple highway issues, providing strong contract management, leading a dedicated team, and ensuring the delivery of our strategic outcomes for Gloucestershire.

As the Area Highway Manager, you will be the lead GCC officer for all highway-related matters within a defined area of Gloucestershire. You will oversee the development and implementation of routine and reactive maintenance strategies, manage capital and revenue budgets, and ensure the successful delivery of planned maintenance programmes.

This role also involves representing GCC in media engagements, stakeholder meetings, and public forums, requiring excellent communication and political awareness.

About you

You will have a wealth of highway experience especially in the highways maintenance. You will play a key role in emergency response, including winter maintenance and adverse weather incidents, acting as a Silver Officer within the County Emergency Management Team.
