As a Principal Road Safety Engineer, you will have the opportunity to shape and implement road safety projects and policies that can prevent injuries and save lives.
About The Team & Role:
- You will lead a team tasked with reducing road traffic casualties in the county of Gloucestershire.
- Manage road safety schemes, analyse collision data, speed management, provide safety reviews of highway design proposals, and undertake Road Safety Audits.
- Implement road safety strategies and meet casualty reduction targets.
- Lead on a programme of Road Safety schemes including project management and commissioning.
- Manage budgets and provide regular updates.
- Supervise, mentor, advise, and support members of the team, assisting the Road Safety Manager to ensure continuing team development and strong team working.
- Work with other GCC teams and external partner organisations to deliver road safety solutions.
- Collaborate with local, regional, and national interest groups to promote safe, healthy, and sustainable travel for all road users.
You will have knowledge and appreciation of the Safe System, experience in managing colleagues and projects, and experience of monitoring budgets and reporting their status. You will have expert knowledge of road safety, including requirements for ensuring highway design meets standards and guidance, providing safe solutions for all road users. Significant experience in collision data analysis and deriving solutions to road safety issues is essential. You will be qualified in accordance with GG 119 and be able to undertake Road Safety Audits.
Excellent organisational skills are required, along with the ability to prioritise workloads and ensure service levels are maintained. You should be able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines, with a customer-focused nature to help build working relationships with your stakeholders.
