About the team & role:

As the Local Nature Recovery Delivery Officer, you will support the Principal Ecologist and Heritage Team leader in providing an effective, customer focussed and efficient ecology service. Working alongside the Principal Ecologist, you will complete the final production stages of the Gloucestershire Local Nature Recovery Strategy (GLNRS) including the public consultation, cabinet adoption process and publication. You will then be responsible for transitioning the County Council, as the responsible authority for the GLNRS, from preparation to its delivery, working closely with colleagues and key partners on landscape-scale local nature recovery projects. You will report, as required, to groups and committees of the council and to other relevant bodies on progress with the implementation of the delivery of the GLNRS, by collating and recording performance against agreed monitoring indicators.

Office base will be Shire Hall, Gloucester, but the role will be flexible with a mix of homeworking, office days and on-site meetings.

About you:

You will have an ecology or closely related degree/diploma and knowledge and experience of the legislative and regulatory environmental frameworks. You will also have experience of the development and delivery of strategic landscape-scale conservation initiatives and project management and monitoring skills. You will have the ability to use your own initiative, work under pressure and possess effective communication skills.

Excellent and confident negotiating and engagement skills, especially with regards to partnership-working, will be as critical as your knowledge and experience of the natural environment.
