We are currently recruiting for a Victim & Restorative Justice Worker to join our Youth Justice Service team on a permanent basis.

About Us

Gloucestershire Youth Justice Service (YJS) are looking for a compassionate, motivated and skilled Victim & Restorative Justice Worker to join our multi-disciplinary team. This is a unique opportunity to support victims of youth crime, champion their voices, and deliver restorative interventions that help repair harm and enable children to take positive steps forward. We want a youth justice system that is fair and inclusive, reduces social disadvantage, and ensures that victims of crime, and the communities of Gloucestershire feel supported and safe.

As a multi-disciplinary service, the YJS endeavours to deliver high-quality support to children and victims through the operationalisation of the ‘Child First’ framework, one that recognises each child’s stories, needs and unique strengths, and provides interventions that are constructive, future-focused, empowering children to move forward with a positive identity. About You

As a Victim & Restorative Justice Worker, you will:

  • Provide timely, trauma-informed, person-centred support to victims of youth crime.
  • Assess risk, needs and suitability for restorative justice interventions.
  • Deliver a wide range of restorative approaches including conferencing, mediation, indirect reparation and community-based solutions.
  • Promote and advocate for the voice and rights of victims throughout the youth justice process, including contributing to Pre-Sentence Reports.
  • Offer victims clear, accessible pathways to participate in criminal justice processes.
  • Work directly with children, families, and partners to create safe, constructive and evidence-based restorative outcomes.
  • Develop multi-agency partnerships across police, education, social care, health and voluntary sector organisations to ensure that the needs of victims of youth crime are met.
  • Keep victims informed at every stage, providing timely updates and clear communication.
  • Lead or contribute to Out of Court Disposal and Referral Order Panel pathways, ensuring restorative practice is embedded throughout.
  • Evaluate and continually improve restorative practice, developing resources, toolkits and training where needed.

This role plays a vital part in delivering Gloucestershire’s Child First approach, balancing the needs of victims with high-quality restorative opportunities for children in our service.

The ideal applicant will have significant experience of working directly with victims, children and families within youth justice, criminal justice or related settings. They will have a strong understanding of restorative justice principles and the Victims’ Code, with skills and experience in delivering direct and indirect restorative interventions.

To be successful for the post we also need you to have:

  • Minimum Level 3 qualification in Social Care, Youth Work, Criminal Justice, Education, Health, Advice & Guidance, or a related field and Level 4 Restorative Justice training (or willingness to achieve this).
  • Ability to drive or travel across the county in line with service need.

Interviews will be held in person on 16th February 2026. Please note this will be the only date for these interviews.
