Gloucestershire County Council is seeking an eager and forward-thinking Traffic Engineering Manager to lead an ambitious highway improvements programme.
This is a unique opportunity to lead a team that plays a pivotal role in significantly transforming the highway by introducing infrastructure that helps to reduce casualties, improve accessibility and sustainable travel, and reduce traffic congestion.
You will lead a growing, multi-disciplinary team and oversee a high-profile programme of investment in road safety, accessibility and sustainable travel.
This includes driving forward our countywide Safer Roads/Community 20s speed limit initiative and the delivery of the annual road safety programme.

About You
- Lead the delivery of a substantial highway improvements programme, ensuring projects are delivered to budget and programme.
- Ensure the design of projects meet local and national standards, are innovative and meet health and safety requirements.
- Oversee the implementation of project management and design processes to achieve successful delivery.
- Oversee contractors to ensure that highway works are constructed to design and budget.
- Drive the development of the team through innovative methods of working including the use of AI.
- Build strong, trusted relationships with colleagues, Members and other stakeholders.
- Support the team’s growth and development, creating a positive and inclusive environment where people can thrive.
