About The Role

Come and work in an integral role within the County’s Library service, managing five community-focused libraries in Hucclecote, Longlevens, Matson, Quedgeley and Tuffley. You will ensure the day-to-day running of the libraries, and leading and developing a skilled team of Library Assistants to deliver a high-quality service to all customers and partners. A focus on delivering an excellent user experience is essential, along with supervisory and organisational skills. You will work closely with partners and within the local communities to deliver and support a varied range of activities and events.

As Library Manager, you will oversee daily operations, staff deployment and service delivery across all five libraries, managing multiple priorities and working effectively under pressure. The position involves travel within Gloucestershire, some lone working and flexibility in working hours, including evenings and alternate Saturdays. This is a 37-hour per week permanent role, with some scope for adjusting hours and occasional working from home where appropriate.

About You

To be successful you will have experience of managing teams with a focus on performance and development. You will bring time management and the ability to prioritise through change to ensure that service provision is maintained. We need your clear and effective communication style to connect and deliver across your sites and within the wider service and County. You’ll also bring a focus on meeting deadlines and a proven track record of meeting compliance, e.g. buildings, health & safety and data collection. This role requires the ability to work efficiently in a dynamic environment with constantly changing priorities. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate resilience to effectively handle challenges and obstacles.
