We are seeking an Education Safeguarding Lead to join Gloucestershire’s Multi-Agency Child Protection Team (MACPT). You will provide specialist educational safeguarding advice within multi-agency processes, ensuring accurate and comprehensive educational information informs decision-making. Acting, when appropriate, as the voice of education in safeguarding, you will strengthen collaboration between schools and safeguarding partners to protect children experiencing significant harm and improve their outcomes.
As part of the wider Education Safeguarding Team, you will respond to safeguarding concerns, investigate thoroughly, and quality assure setting investigations. You will offer expert advice to education providers on safeguarding arrangements, including concerns raised by Ofsted, the Department for Education, and whistleblowing reports. The role involves building strong professional relationships with governance boards, Local Area Designated Officers, senior school leaders, and safeguarding partners, ensuring clear reporting and effective safeguarding practice across Gloucestershire.
The Education Safeguarding Lead- MACPT will have a thorough understanding of legislation and statutory guidance and be able to fulfil the Council’s duty to ensure all education settings comply with Keeping Children Safe in Education and related statutory safeguarding requirements on education settings. The successful candidate will have experience of the education system and legislative framework. Undertaken the role of Designated Safeguarding Lead in an appropriate setting or extensive experience of working with schools, including work on attendance and related issues. Working with children, young people and families. Experience in relevant sectors which have led to positive outcomes for children, young people and families.
