Children’s Residential Services
We are looking for a skilled and passionate Deputy Manager to support the leadership of our new supported accommodation service for young people aged 16+. This key leadership role works alongside the Registered Manager to deliver safe, high‑quality, trauma‑informed support to young people with complex needs, helping them to develop independence and prepare for adulthood.
About Us
Our Children’s Residential Service currently includes three registered homes and one operational short‑break service, with three homes rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted. We are expanding our provision and developing a new in‑house supported accommodation service, Southfields, which will support up to 19 young people and care leavers aged 16–25, offering high‑quality, self‑contained accommodation within a structured and supportive environment. Southfields will provide stability, guidance, and practical support to help young people develop independence, build life skills, and transition successfully into adulthood, underpinned by a strong trauma‑informed ethos.
About The Role
You will be an integral member of the management team, supporting the Registered Manager in the day‑to‑day operations and management of the service. This includes leading key functions to ensure smooth running, deputising in the absence of the Registered Manager, establishing and overseeing a rota and on‑call system, and supporting recruitment, induction, and ongoing staff development. You will actively contribute to the mobilisation, growth, stability, and improvement of the service, embedding its ethos and values to maintain a consistent trauma‑informed approach to care and support positive outcomes for young people.
About You
You will be an experienced and confident practitioner capable of leading from the front and supporting both staff and young people in challenging yet rewarding environments. You should have previous experience in supported accommodation or a similar setting, alongside leadership or supervisory experience. You will possess a strong track record of working with young people with complex needs, including trauma and behavioural challenges, and supporting care leavers to develop independence. You will demonstrate a solid understanding of key legislation and regulatory frameworks relevant to supported accommodation (Children Act 1989, Care Leavers (England) Regulations 2010, Supported Accommodation (England) Regulations 2023). You will also have sound knowledge of trauma‑informed care, attachment, and adolescent development. You will be confident in safeguarding, risk management within a semi‑independent setting, while promoting young people’s autonomy. Strong leadership, organisational, and interpersonal skills are essential, as is the ability to build positive, trusting relationships with young people and partner agencies. You will be resilient, calm, solution‑focused, and committed to reflective practice and continuous professional development.
Requirements
- Level 3 qualification in Health & Social Care, Children & Young People, or a related field.
- Evidence of continued professional development.
- Full driving licence and willingness to drive.
- DBS clearance (enhanced Adult and Children).
- Genuine Occupational Requirement: aged 21 years or above (Schedule 9, Part 1, Equality Act 2010).
- Must hold a valid right to work in the UK and demonstrate fluent spoken English.
