A key element of our newly launched DfE Experts at Hand offer, the countywide Sensory Team provides specialist support with compassion, innovation and excellence. As a QTVI you will deliver high‑quality, timely assessments and interventions, working collaboratively with families, schools and health professionals to support children and young people with visual impairments. You will teach specialist skills such as Braille, assistive technologies and independent living techniques, promoting high aspirations and supporting smooth transitions at key educational stages, including preparation for adulthood.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver assessments and interventions for learners (ages 0‑25) with visual impairments and additional needs;
  • Recommend specialist equipment and technologies;
  • Build strong relationships with learners, families and professionals;
  • Manage a caseload independently and as part of the team;
  • Support smooth transitions and promote independence;
  • Keep accurate records and work within the Gloucestershire Graduated Pathway and SEND processes.

Qualifications

  • Qualified Teacher with mandatory QTVI accreditation;
  • Experience working with young people with visual impairments and additional needs;
  • Excellent communication, empathy and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to manage a caseload;
  • Knowledge of safeguarding, equality and continuous professional development;
  • Valid driving licence and access to a car for county‑wide travel.

Additional requirements

  • Right to work in the UK for at least 6 months (no transfer of sponsorship from another employer);
  • The role requires fluent spoken English;
  • Hybrid working arrangements are available.
